UPDATE! - SHARED NOT OWNED - 2nd collaborative Album Project

Stephanie Grace Kennedy & Mark McGann recording for the Perplexed Music Album at Parr St Studios Liverpool

Dear All,

We finally have a working timeline for our next music album project which, after some consideration, we have decided to call Shared Not Owned. As this is the title of one of the new songs that will feature (one written by myself and Jon Barnett), we felt it captured the spirit of our community project perfectly.

My apologies for the radio silence in recent weeks. A combination of everyone's seasonal priorities and the winter cost of living challenges faced by the country meant I felt it would be a little untimely to start a new Kickstarter Campaign during this period, so I have coordinated a new timeline for the realisation of this second album project with the band and the studio, which is I think much more compatible with everyone's needs.

The plan we've been working on is as follows:

  • Start of 45 day Kickstarter Campaign - THURSDAY APRIL 27th 2023

  • End of 45 day Kickstarter Campaign - SATURDAY JUNE 10th 2023

  • Pre Production Coordination & Band Rehearsal - MONDAY JUNE 12th to SATURDAY JULY 1st 2023

  • House Band to arrive in Frome to start recording - SUNDAY JULY 9th 2023

  • Recording starts at Bert Jansch Studio in Frome - MONDAY JULY 10th 2023

  • Recording ends at Bert Jansch Studio in Frome - FRIDAY JULY 21st 2023

  • Mastering and CD pressing T.B.C.

  • Album Launch Show T.B.C.

For those of you who are already up to speed with the nature of our collaborative projects, the studio band will be the same musicians who provided the musical foundation for our first album. Well if it's not broke...! I am therefore delighted to announce that Myself (Guitar/Vocals), Steph Kennedy (Guitar/Vocals), Jesse Eigen (Bass), Joe Smithson (Lead Guitar), Jack Hymers (Keyboard), Dave Ormsby (Drums) will once again serve as our house band recording all the basic tracks in the first week of recording.

THE HOUSE BAND (from left to right) Chris Bailey (Engineer) Jesse Eigen, Steph Kennedy, Joe Smithson, Mark McGann, Dave Ormsby, Jack Hymers

This will then leave the final second week of recording free for the introduction and addition of various guest artists who have either stressed an interest to be involved in the past or who have been approached by myself. I want to extend an invite to those artists who appeared as guests on the first album as well as those who hoped to appear on Perplexed Music but could not due to other commitments etc. The definitive timetable for each recording day will therefore be set during the pre-production period following the Kickstarter campaign to enable more accurate coordination with all concerned.

Finally, we have been approached by a national tabloid newspaper who wish to interview myself about our new project. It appears that news of our earlier successful projects and unique community (that's you!) has reached conventional news outlets. This exciting development comes with an agreement that they will time the online publication of the interview to coincide with our Kickstarter Campaign in April/June which will carry an active link to the online KS campaign inviting the public to become involved. This should provide the project with a very welcome boost.

I'm putting together the Kickstarter Campaign at the moment and so any new ideas about what may constitute an enticing or original Reward idea for donations for you and others would be gratefully received.

More to come soon team!

Love and light,

Mark xxx

I hope you are well, Mark. I'm looking forward to April 27th. The start of your new Kickstarter, I have been busy looking after Mum and when I'm not at home I'm working at the Stage Door looking after the wonderful Cast of Harry Potter and The Cursed Child. I was just wondering if you have worked out what the rewards will be for the Kickstarter. For example, would £400 get you a free CD with a mention on the credits and a ticket to the concert

Take care Mark and let's hope we can make this another success

All the best

Peter

Thanks for the lovely text, Mark. I'm glad you enjoyed the Opening night of Shirley Valentine.. Sheridan Smith is definitely a lovely person and actress. Once you are able to give a guide for rewards I will get in touch. Mum is coping well and we both send our love to you and Caroline

I realised I commented on the wrong post so had to delete my original one 🤦‍♀️.

This looks one amazing and epic ride, and I love that you have such a powerful creative spark and energy about you and this project, I’m in awe of you.

I can tell this’ll sound awesome when the final product is heard. I also love how you’re also keeping us in the loop, and making us a part of this joyous journey (I only joined the PM one at the end). Thank you.

Hi Hayley, there's you praising me for keeping you in the loop and there's me forgetting to respond! Sorry about that. Thank you for the kind words as ever. Wonderful news, and I think a good time span. Looking forward to hearing it. (Bert Jansch and Pentangle helped me through a traumatic childhood, so it's nice seeing a studio named after him!)
