Hi All,
Here I am back with the wonderful RTE Concert Orchestra conducted by the simply extraordinary David Brophy. I’m joined here by vocalists Joe Stilgoe and Gwyneth Herbert as we prepare for tomorrow night’s performance.
I was commissioned to write and direct this by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic back in 2010, following a request for a show from Sir Paul McCartney via conductor John Wilson. I roped my old friend and fellow writer/director Bob Eaton in to assist with the narrative story, which looks, in hopefully a fresh and novel way, at the unique songwriting relationship between Lennon and McCartney.
It’s the show’s 3rd time in Dublin following performances in 2012 and 2015. It is a real privilege to work these iconic songs in such a rarified environment and with such exemplary musicians and artists using stunning arrangements by Andrew Cottee.
And there’s an acted script to boot that pieces it all together! Hoorah!
I'm sure that will be an amazing show, Mark, I would love to see it. Break lots of legs xx
Looks fantastic Mark, have a great show
